Remove Silence in Logic Pro and Match Video in Final Cut Pro – Forum.
Like automated jump cuts There’s no automated way to remove silence in FCP like you can in Logic. You can cut out audio in Logic but you can’t cut video. Once you go back to FCP, you still have a full length still, and have to manually cut the video track down to match the remaining audio.
So doing the automated silence removal in Logic does zero good for editing video in FCP. You simply have to do it manually in FCP. Or if only logic pro could mark the silences and export to fcp then let fcp do the trimming by the marks You can see in the waveform where the silence is. But no, there’s not automated way to do this in FCP.
Unless there’s a third-party plugin I don’t know about. If your problem is that you want to avoid ‘noise’ in the audio signal when it is ‘silent’ why not use the ‘Noise Gate’ audio filter on the clip in FCP. Background noise is removed, without affecting the main signal.
You can use Remove Silence to divide long spoken passages into several convenient segments, like sentences, words, or syllables. For film synchronization or jingles, you can move or reposition the speech segments by simply dragging them around in the Tracks area. Tempo changes allow you to simulate a time compression or expansion effect, as the syllables automatically move closer together, or farther apart. Dividing drum loops into small segments is a good way to perfectly synchronize them.
For example, in audio passages where the bass drum and snare are completely separate, you can often use Remove Silence to isolate each individual beat. Different computers, different synchronization sources internal or SMPTE code , different tape machines, and—in theory—different samplers or hard disk recording systems will exhibit slight variations in clock speed.
Changing just one component can lead to a loss of synchronization between recorded audio material and MIDI. When used on long recordings with numerous gaps—such as vocals or instrumental solos—you can obtain better results by setting a low threshold value.

Today we are showcasing some over-looked Logic arrangement tricks. This will essentially create a gap or a section of silence anywhere in your arrangement with a single click. Think of when you want to bump the whole song over to make room for an intro or to split a collection of regions apart in order to inject a new section into the song.
Simply make a left and right locator selection: Click and drag across the top ruler portion of the main Tracks page the same way you would create a loop the yellow bar. Now hit the Insert Silence function to slice and move all the regions and insert a gap of silence within your selection.
Tip: Immediately hitting the Insert Silence Function again, will double the length of the gap or silence you just created and so on with the 3rd, 4th, 5th…. All of the regions within your selection are neatly cut and moved to the right locator position or later in the song.
As the names suggest, the Cut, Copy, Insert and Repeat functions can also be used in much the same way as the Silence feature above for speedy alterations:.
